Today, we are sharing Tips to protect your Instagram account from hackers. Over the years, Instagram has grown to be one of the most popular social media platforms where you can share photos and videos with friends. But as it’s popularity increases so does the risks of loosing an instagram account to hackers also increases.
As a business, having your Instagram account hacked is really scary so we would be sharing with you tips on how to protect your Instagram account:
As simple as this sounds, this is one of the most important tips in securing your account. Hackers can easily guess your password maybe from your name of username as funny as it sounds it happens. So what you would need to do is use complex passwords that contains letters, numbers and possibly punctuation marks.
Instagram experts also suggest that you change your password twice or 3 times in a year just for more safety.
When you put on the two-factor authentication on your Instagram account, you will be notified anytime you login in another device in which Instagram asks you to enter the SMS security code being sent to your phone number. So with this it is very difficult for any hacker to have access to your Instagram account.
To turn on two-factor authentication, when you are on your profile, tap the settings button at the top right corner, scroll down and you then tap “two-factor authentication”
Once you click on “two-factor authentication, you then toggle “on” A phone number would be required if you don’t have a phone number associated. When all is all set, anytime your account is being logged into another device you’ll be asked to enter the security code sent to you.
Note: There is also a third party two-factor authentication app that Instagram approves of. You can check out “Duo Mobile” on Playstore or App store.
One of the fastest ways for a social media account to be hacked is through the email because we certainly get to register on any social media platform with our email address. So make sure no one has nay access to your email address, and also let the password of your email address linked to your Instagram account be different.
If you have recently used any third party apps maybe for follow or unfollow or like make sure you get to revoke access to those applications. Most of these apps don’t follow Instagram’s Community Guidelines or Terms of Use.
Those third party apps can be a way your account can be hacked. You can revoke access by logging your account on your PC, click on settings, and then click on authorized apps, on Mobile go to security settings, tap on Apps & Websites. If you don’t approve of any of them just click the revoke access button.
