So what you would need to do is use complex passwords that contains letters, numbers and possibly punctuation marks.
Instagram experts also suggest that you change your password twice or 3 times in a year just for more safety.
When you put on the two-factor authentication on your Instagram account, you will be notified anytime you login in another device in which Instagram asks you to enter the SMS security code being sent to your phone number. So with this it is very difficult for any hacker to have access to your Instagram account.
To turn on two-factor authentication, when you are on your profile, tap the settings button at the top right corner, scroll down and you then tap “two-factor authentication”
Once you click on “two-factor authentication, you then toggle “on” A phone number would be required if you don’t have a phone number associated. When all is all set, anytime your account is being logged into another device you’ll be asked to enter the security code sent to you.
Note: There is also a third party two-factor authentication app that Instagram approves of. You can check out “Duo Mobile” on Playstore or App store.
One of the fastest ways for a social media account to be hacked is through the email because we certainly get to register on any social media platform with our email address. So make sure no one has nay access to your email address, and also let the password of your email address linked to your Instagram account be different.
Those third party apps can be a way your account can be hacked. You can revoke access by logging your account on your PC, click on settings, and then click on authorized apps, on Mobile go to security settings, tap on Apps & Websites.
